A great big thank you to the Arena staff for all their hard work in keeping the ice in good condition for some excellent skating!

We invite you to check out our outdoor ice and enjoy the improvements our staff have made. We now have upgraded decks and sitting areas and a new leisure ice area with its own lighting.  The outdoor rink is a great addition to the Town's recreation opportunities and we're sure it will add hours of fun to your outdoor winter experience.  Our goal was to have the ice ready for Christmas and we made it!

Producing high quality outdoor ice is very dependent on weather.  If ice is put in too early there is the potential for poor ice quality or for losing the ice completely to warm weather.  Municipalities that get ice in earlier typically have night time crews that flood rinks at night when it is colder.  For Bruderheim's rink, it takes roughly ten consecutive -15°C weather days to get ice in properly, flooding the rink two to three times per day.

A big challenge for Bruderheim's crew is the lack of a nearby water source-our solution was to use the fire truck to flood the rink!  This was a big job for our arena staff in the cold!  We are adding a water source to the adjacent fire hall so in the future it will be much easier to flood the ice and we will be able to start earlier in the season.

The Town extends a warm thank you to Town staff members for all their hard work to get the ice ready for the citizens of Bruderheim!
