Thank you Shannon Szabados for your Bruderheim visit on February 21st, 2011! 

 

Bruderheim scored a big goal in acquiring Olympic gold medalist, Shannon Szabados, as a guest for its Family Day Celebrations on February 21st. The goalie that led Canada's Olympic Women's Hockey Team to victory in 2010 was on the ice and signing autographs in the Bruderheim Arena.

 

The gold medal was here in Bruderheim!

 

The Town was very excited to commemorate the outdoor rink's first anniversary and Family Day celebrations with such an honourable appearance, and welcomed many visitors that joined in the fun. Shannon's presence created quite a stir of excitement as she skated, surrounded by eager young fans, offering high fives and hugs.

 

The Town of Bruderheim would like to thank Shannon Szabados for her exceptional three-hour visit, which is certain to be remembered as a community highlight for years to come.

 

Other Family Day event attractions included a kick-off with balloon release, treasure hunt, horse-drawn sleigh rides, family games, marshmallow roast and more.

In light of the significant goals the Town has accomplished over the last couple of years  -  including the Tax Free for Three Policy, a new website and the construction of a new fire hall and a 68-unit condominium  -  Bruderheim Town Council and Administration believe that the gold medal visit is a very fitting way to showcase the true value of the community.
