Bruderheim joins social media wave
Bruderheim is giving people the chance to win an iPad or eReader just for liking the town on Facebook or following it on Twitter. Approximately one year after Bruderheim launched its brand new website, the Town has decided to join the social media wave. "Our website is the most modern and up-to-date communication tool Bruderheim has ever had," says Mayor Karl Hauch. "We're building on that by adding both a Facebook and a Twitter component."
In doing so, the Town hopes to capitalize on the benefits that social media has to offer, such as generating exposure and enhancing communication. "Connecting more with our residents is a high priority," says Hauch, "and now we have another way to direct them to valuable information about the programs and services we have to offer. Also, sometimes we need to connect with our residents as a situation develops, and social media will allow us to do that."
Adding a social media element to Bruderheim's website received wide support from Council. "Both Facebook and Twitter have become preferred methods of communication for the younger generations," adds Councillor Dave McCormack. "Bruderheim is doing what any responsible town should be doing-engaging our youth."
Now that the profiles on Facebook and Twitter have been set up, engaging people in the process is the Town's next step. "We've started a campaign where people can win an iPad or an eReader for liking us on Facebook or following us on Twitter," says Hauch. "People have until March 1st, 2012 to be entered into a draw just for connecting with us. We're very excited about it and the potential this form of communication has for the future of our community."
