Bruderheim's Community Compost Site, where residents deliver tree and shrub waste for disposal, is full. The cost to haul this waste to landfill is extremely high. To save money and to allow residents to continue to use the site, the compost pile is being burned. Burning at this time of year greatly reduces risk—with snow in and around the area, conditions make this is a safe and opportune time to burn.
The pile will smoulder until all debris is burned - residents may see smoke for about a week to ten days. Crews will monitor the area closely throughout the entire burning process.
